This means that the work can be used for any purpose, without any conditions, unless such conditions are required by law.

This template is used on file pages in which the image has been released into the public domain. This template is used by placing the following code in the file's description:

If you would like the author to be mentioned in the template, place the following code, replacing "AUTHOR" with the author of the image:

{{Public domain|Author=AUTHOR}}

If you would like the source of the work to be mentioned in the template, place the following code, replacing "SOURCE" with the source of the image:

{{Public domain|Source=SOURCE}}

You can also include both the author and source:

{{Public domain|Source=SOURCE|Author=AUTHOR}}

If the work does not meet the threshold of originality, you can specify so with the Simple parameter:

{{Public domain|Simple=Yes}}
